Meet the Author: Basit Ali

My name is Basit Ali, and I am currently a second-year Resident Surgeon at the esteemed Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) in Peshawar. My journey in the medical field has been driven by a passion for surgery and a commitment to continuous learning.

My professional journey includes:

  • MBBS: Poonch Medical College, Rawalakot (affiliated with the University of Health Sciences Lahore)
  • Former House Physician and Surgeon: Ayub Teaching Hospital, Abbottabad
  • Former Medical Officer: Husnain Medical Center Battagram
  • Currently: Orthopedics Rotation as a Resident Surgeon at LRH Peshawar

  • Stoma reversal (Double barrel ileostomy, Loop ileostomy and Double barrel colostomy)
  • Biliary Surgery (Open cholecystectomy)
  • Appendectomy (Open)
  • Amputations (Below knee, Finger)
  • Fasciotomy (Hand, foot, leg, and thigh)
  • Deep Debridement (Diabetic foot, Fournier’s gangrene, Meleney’s gangrene, and others)
  • Incision and Drainage (Buttock, breast, and other abscesses)
  • IGTN (Ingrown Toenail) removal
  • Biopsies (Muscle, Breast – excision and trucut, Cervical lymph node)
  • Excisions (Lipoma, Fibroma, Sebaceous cyst, Stich sinus, Dermoid cyst and Ganglionic cyst)

Furthermore, I have assisted as a first assistant in hundreds of additional surgical cases across various specialties.

SurGide was created with the aim of sharing my experiences with the doctor community and the general population. I strive to simplify complex surgical concepts to make them more understandable. Through blogging, I also aim to address population problems and concerns related to different surgical and medical interventions.

My approach to creating content on SurGide is rooted in:

  • Practical learning gained directly from my residency experience.
  • Knowledge derived from various authentic and updated textbooks.
  • Evidence-based information gathered from reliable research studies.
  • While AI is used just for grammatical corrections, where needed, the core content is based on my understanding and learning. All these help me too better understand the topic and obviously help the community.
